In Jakobstad you´ll find Novia´s faculty of Art and Culture. We offer studies in Music, Music and Performing arts pedagogy, Art, Photography and Design. Here we educate the music and art professionals of the future. The educations often collaborate in mutual creative projects. Novia also arranges courses within the Open UAS and all our activities are arranged in Swedish and English.
Novia’s research, development and innovation activities (RDI) work closely with the business community and civil society in the region. Novia RDI in Jakobstad specializes in Art and Culture, educational development, development of the third sector / civil society and sustainability issues. At Campus Allegro in Jakobstad, you can find 360 of Novia´s students and about 40 of our employees.
Our campus in Pietarsaari is characterised by an international atmosphere. We speak Finnish, Swedish and English with our 350 students and our business partners. You can study business in Finnish or English and IT-engineering in English. We arrange continuing education according to the needs of the region and its business sector.
Our Research, Development and Innovation department works closely together with business and society. The activities include business and third sector development, data protection and -security, robotisation and automation, as well as sustainability and participation issues.
Centria is a popular meeting place. You can rent our event spaces for seminars, lectures and creative events. Entrepreneurs and remote workers can choose between different office space options in an inspiring working environment.
In Jakobstad YA offers two vocational qualifications in arts, and the opportunity to become a musician or an implementer of visual expression. We also offer further vocational qualification in music production. Our company Edunova Ab offers i.a. integration training in Swedish and Finnish.
Campus Allegro is a creative and stimulating study environment for all our vocational qualifications and training programs where our skilled and committed teachers will help you as a student to achieve your goals. We have a total of about 150 students (100 in vocational education and 50 at Edunova Ab) and about 20 employees.
At the Wava institute you can, as a child, young person or an adult, enjoy studying music, visual arts, dance or theater based on our arts curriculum, including project based creative writing. We also offer early childhood music education for babies, toddlers and up to 7-year-olds, which offers a good foundation for future studies. Although the majority of our students are children and young people, adults also have the opportunity to study at our open department with our skilled teachers. Along with private tuition it is possible to take part in bands and choirs.
Every week almost 800 pupils from Jakobstad, Pedersöre, Larsmo and Nykarleby participate in the Wava institute’s multilingual activities with the guidance of more than 40 teachers.
The Jakobstad/Pietarsaari Sinfonietta is an educational orchestra for students at the music programs in Campus Allegro. The students at Wava-institutet, YA! Vocational College of Ostrobothnia and Novia University of Applied Sciences gain most of their orchestral, band and ensemble practice through the Sinfonietta’s activities.
The Jakobstad/Pietarsaari Sinfonietta offer students an opportunity to play with experienced and professional musicians in varying compositions. The Sinfonietta is a flexible unit that, through its activities, strives towards becoming a central part of the cultural everyday life in Ostrobothnia.
